Seize the Day!

Filed under: Pieces of Me —— myownprivateserendipity @ 4:09 am

"The early bird catches the worm; a stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can’t pretend we haven’t been told. We’ve all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to ‘seize the day’. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today’s possibility under tomorrow’s rug until we can’t anymore, until we finally understand for ourselves like Benjamin Franklin meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping. And that even the biggest failure, even the worst most intractable mistake beats the hell out of never trying."

- Meredith Grey, Grey’s Anatomy

(…yeah, we all know this is true. still hard to do, though. especially when you think of the failing part. have to work on it, still. )

Aaaaaarghhhhh….!!!!

It just completely boggles me how people are. I don’t want to be judgemental, but it’s really hard to make people think the same way you do, help them see your side of the story; when they are SOOO set in their ways and refuse to budge. I just hope they realize how so much bigger the world is, and that it does NOT revolve around just ourselves, and the little perfect bubble we like to hide ourselves in. That’s it, exactly. It’s a godd*** bubble. People can see how you really are. So stop imagining that you’re perfectly fine and safe inside. Stop imagining that you are PERFECT. Because nobody is. It’s hard to start growing up and accept that we ARE responsible for our actions, and learn how to take criticism in stride. But that’s life, right? See the bigger picture. And listen, just listen. Because sometimes the effort of getting our points across, to prove we are right, can make us deaf to the truth. So you choose: would you rather be RIGHT? or would you rather have PEACE OF MIND? Personally, I’d choose the latter.
