SENATE CIR COULD BE INTRODUCED NEXT WEEK

The Washington Times is reporting that the Senate’s new version of CIR could be introduced into the Senate as soon as next week. Last year’s version of CIR included the Brownback amendment. We are optimistic that this year’s version will as well.

If the Senate’s CIR includes the Brownback amendment and is introduced next week, this would be the most significant step in the 10 months that we have been updating this Blog. The Washington Times’ article predicts that the Senate could take action by April. The House would likely follow shortly thereafter. President Bush would almost certainly sign the legislation.

Note: Looks like the wheels are turning for all of us hoping to land in the U.S. this year…let us all pray for this to push through. :-)

The Other Side

Filed under: Pieces of Me —— myownprivateserendipity @ 3:00 am

People can really amaze you sometimes. How one’s first impression of another can really surprise you; once you see through the exterior. Surprise you that you we’re so wrong, that is. We all have this sense of what we think is right; what is the proper thing to do or say… But I’ve learned that we can’t really force our ideals on anyone whose view of it is the polar opposite. We meet people, then we place them under certain categories, or stereotypes. I used to do that, but I’ve met some people who taught me to look beyond the category and see the things that make them who they are. I am thankful for meeting people like these. Who show me another side of the coin. Who makes me see a different shade of color. Who makes me hear a song in a different tune. Who makes me realize that there is joy in silence. Who teaches me to think first, and not let emotion get the better of me.

…"You can waste your time drawing lines, or start living your life crossing them. And when you do decide to cross that line…I’m sure the view from the other side is spectacular."

Praying for this…

(For all PT’s and nurses, passage of this bill means no more quota’s for immigrant visas. We pray the outcome will be positive…)

SEN. COLEMAN UNVEILS CRHI

Tomorrow Sen. Coleman will unveil his Comprehensive Rural Health Initiatives. While downplayed in the following release, HLG has seen an advance copy of the legislation and Section 4 of the bill includes the long-desired Brownback amendment, which calls for Schedule A occupations to be eliminated from the EB quota until 2017. Once the legislation is formally released, HLG will post a blog entry.

This is a very impressive step. If you have any friends in Minnesota, you should drop the Senator an email/fax/phone call and tell him THANKS! HLG will be keeping in touch with him to see if/how we can push this bill.

We’re also optimistic that another Schedule A visa exemption bill will be floated in the upcoming week or two. More on that one as the facts are released.

Dr. Meredith Grey speaks…

Filed under: Pieces of Me —— myownprivateserendipity @ 4:04 am

Words of wisdom from Dr. Meredith Grey:

** "At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other, it’s usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to, and once we’ve chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. No matter how much we hurt them. The people that are still with you at the end of the day, those are the ones worth keeping. And sure, sometimes close can be too close. But sometimes, that invasion of personal space, it can be exactly what you need."

** "We all think we’re going to be great and we feel a little bit robbed when our expectations aren’t met. But sometimes expectations sell us short. Sometimes the expected simply pales in comparison to the unexpected. You got to wonder why we cling to our expectations, because the expected is just what keeps us steady. Standing. Still, the expected’s just the beginning, the unexpected is what changes our lives."

**"There are times when even the best of us have trouble with commitment, and we may be surprised at the commitments we’re willing to let slip out of our grasp. Commitments are complicated. We may surprise ourselves by the commitments we’re willing to make, true commitment, takes effort, and sacrifice. Which is why sometimes, we have to learn the hard way, to choose our commitments very carefully."

**"The fantasy is simple. Pleasure is good, and twice as much pleasure is better. That pain is bad, and no pain is better. But the reality is different. The reality is that pain is there to tell us something, and there’s only so much pleasure we can take without getting a stomach ache. And maybe that’s okay. Maybe some fantasies are only supposed to live in our dreams."

**"At any given moment, the brain has 14 billion neurons firing at a speed of 450 miles per hour. We don’t have control over most of them. When we get a chill… goose bumps. When we get excited… adrenaline. The body naturally follows it’s impulses, which I think is part of what makes it so hard for us to control ours. Of course, sometimes we have impulses we would rather not control, that we later wish we had."

**"But the thing is, it’s hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely, because almost everyone has that smallest bit of faith and hope that one day they would open their eyes and it would all come true. At the end of the day, faith is a funny thing. It turns up when you don’t really expect it. It’s like one day you realize that the fairy tale is slightly different than your dream. The castle, well it may not be a castle. And it’s not so important that it’s happily ever after — just that it’s happy right now. See, once in a while, once in a blue moon, people will surprise you. And once in awhile, people may even take your breath away."

Breathe

"Breathe"

Michelle Branch

I’ve been driving for an hour
Just talking to the rain
You say I’ve been driving you crazy
and its keeping you away
So just give me one good reason
Tell me why I should stay
‘Cause I dont wanna waste another moment
in saying things we never meant to say

And I Take it just a little bit
I, hold my breath and count to ten
I, I’ve been waiting for a chance to let you in

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
If I just breathe

Well it’s all so overrated
In not saying how you feel
So you end up watching chances fade
And wondering what’s real

And I Give you just a little time
I, Wonder if you realize
I’ve been waiting till I see it in your eyes

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe,
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
If I just breathe
Breathe

So I whisper in the dark,
Hoping you hear me
Do you hear me?

If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I’ll know everything is alright
Breathe,
Every little piece of me
You’ll see
Everything is alright
Everything is alright if i just breathe… breathe

I’ve been driving for an hour
Just talking to the rain
