Sleeps With Butterflies

Filed under: Music —— myownprivateserendipity @ 4:01 am

Being a huge music afficionado, I have this thing of looking for not-so-popular songs or muscicians whose songs really affect me. My personal favorites are those who play their own instruments, especially the piano or guitar. Vanessa Carlton, Maksim, John Legend. But one artist who I really admire is Tori Amos. I think her music is so honest and creative, I’m pretty sure you’d find her a bit eccentric, but nonetheless, very original. You can’t really find anyone who sounds like her, and her piano playing is brilliant. She has this new album, The Beekeeper. And her current single, Sleeps with Butterflies, is one of my new favorites.

(Actually, this song made me think of someone….hmmmm…)

"Sleeps With Butterflies"

Airplanes
Take you away again
Are you flying
Above where we live
Then I look up a glare in my eyes
Are you having regrets about last night
I’m not but I like rivers that rush in
So then I dove in
Is there trouble ahead
For you the acrobat
I won’t push you unless you have a net

You say the word
You know I will find you
Or if you need some time
I don’t mind
I don’t hold on
To the tail of your kite
I’m not like the girls that you’ve known
But I believe I’m worth coming home to
Kiss away night
This girl only sleeps with butterflies
With butterflies
So go on and fly then boy

Balloons
Look good from on the ground
I fear with pins and needles around
We may fall then stumble
Upon a carousel
It could take us anywhere

I’m not like the girls that you’ve known
But I believe I’m worth coming home to
Kiss away night
This girl only sleeps with butterflies
With butterflies
With butterflies
So go on and fly boy…

Orange-colored dreams…

Filed under: Pieces of Me —— myownprivateserendipity @ 2:30 am

I have been seeing orange for this past four days. Nah, it’s not my weird way of saying that I’m angry (baka seeing "red?"). I’m actually counting the hours when I’ll be setting foot in Boracay again. And with it, I am anticipating experiencing once again one of the reasons Boracay grasps whoever visits its shores. The famous Boracay sunset.

We will be leaving tomorrow afternoon (May 21) and it will l be my first time to travel "gung-ho" by way of land and sea. More commonly known as the "ro-ro" system. I simply can’t wait. My last visit was in September 2003 with three of my good friends, so I think my return is long overdue. After the grind of my job, I consider this my gift to myself, taking a break.

Blessings

Her nKayeame is Kaye.

She has the most beautiful eyes, at the same time innocent and wise. She turning 8 years old sometime soon. And I am continually amazed by her ability to teach me on the ways of the world.

She is a special child. She has a highly hyperactive demeanor at times, but her family, me included, have learned to cope and deal with her during these events. It is frustrating at times, but I have learned long ago that she was teaching us to be patient; to think out of our own comfort zones and try to emphatize with other people around us.

She is a source of joy to those around her, for even as there are bad days, when she would be at her most difficult, there are also many times when she is always ready to give a hug or kiss to anyone who nees it. She will give you her trademark pat on the back with an enthusiastic "I love you, Tita Sheryl!"

It makes you realize that the Lord is wise, and although we stumble on unexpected things in our lives, there will always be a a lesson learned or a blessing received in return. Such as this little angel with whom we have the privelege of having in our midst.
